A Little About Me

Building well. Living fully. Leaving something meaningful.

I'm Monique D. Hayes, an attorney, wealth strategist, author, speaker, entrepreneur, and lifelong student of the world around me.

Monique D. Hayes

Professionally, I've spent my career helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate complex financial and legal challenges, preserve what they've built, and prepare for what comes next. My work spans corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, estate planning, business succession, and wealth preservation.

But my interests, and my understanding of legacy, extend well beyond the practice of law.

I'm fascinated by the things we build, the things we preserve, the stories we tell, and the experiences that shape us. I love vintage automobiles, vintage fashion, beautiful architecture, discovering new places, and learning the history behind things that have stood the test of time. I'm equally passionate about ideas, meaningful conversations, enduring friendships, and the pursuit of a life well lived.

At first glance, those interests might seem unrelated. To me, they're deeply connected.

It's all about recognizing value, appreciating what endures, and being intentional about what we carry forward.

The Work

At the intersection of business, law, and wealth strategy

I've built my professional career at the intersection of business, law, and wealth strategy.

As a Board Certified Business Bankruptcy attorney, I've worked with businesses and individuals navigating financial distress, restructuring, and complex transitions. That experience has given me a unique perspective on wealth: how it's created, how easily it can be compromised, and why protecting it requires as much intention as building it.

Today, that perspective informs my work in estate planning, business succession, asset protection, and wealth preservation.

I'm particularly passionate about making sophisticated planning strategies more accessible and helping people understand that legacy planning isn't reserved for the ultrawealthy. It's for anyone who has something, or someone, worth protecting.

Through my legal practice, Estates Made Easy, writing, teaching, and speaking, I work to close the gap between financial success and lasting financial security.

My book, The Legacy Blueprint: A Guide to Bringing Generational Wealth Within Reach, reflects that mission. It encourages readers to think beyond simply accumulating assets and begin developing the strategies, structures, and habits necessary to preserve wealth and create opportunities for future generations.

About the book →

I believe wealth should be more than accumulated. It should be understood, protected, enjoyed, and thoughtfully stewarded.

Beyond the Work

I believe in working hard, but I also believe in living well.

I have a deep appreciation for vintage automobiles, particularly the design, craftsmanship, and cultural history of cars from decades past. The same appreciation draws me to vintage fashion—pieces with character, provenance, and stories that transcend trends.

I love to travel, explore new places, experience different cultures, and discover the people and histories that make each destination distinctive.

And I love to write.

Sometimes my writing explores wealth, business, and legacy. Other times, it's about friendship, relationships, culture, personal growth, or an observation that has stayed with me long enough to become an essay.

I'm an optimist by nature, endlessly curious, and convinced that there's always more to learn. I've also learned that optimism alone isn't enough. Grace and grit have carried me through more than a few challenging seasons.

I care about how I present myself, but I care far more about my impact than my image. I appreciate beautiful things, but I'm not particularly interested in accumulating things simply for the sake of having them.

For me, the real luxury is having the freedom, relationships, resources, and experiences to live a life that feels meaningful.

What Connects It All

Whether I'm helping a family establish a trust, advising a business through a difficult transition, speaking about wealth preservation, writing about friendship, or admiring a beautifully restored vintage car, there's a common thread:

An appreciation for what matters, what lasts, and what deserves to be preserved.

I don't believe legacy begins at the end of life. We create it every day—in our decisions, relationships, work, investments, experiences, and contributions to the people and communities around us.

This website is a reflection of that philosophy.

It's a place to explore my professional work, share ideas and resources, discover my writing, and occasionally indulge my interests in vintage cars, fashion, travel, and whatever else sparks my curiosity.

I'm glad you're here. I hope something you discover inspires you to think differently, plan more intentionally, or simply enjoy the journey a little more.

After all, a meaningful legacy isn't just about what we leave behind. It's about how we choose to live along the way.
